The Carnival Calabar 2024 came to a close on December 28, 2024, with Akwa Ibom State emerging as the overall winner after a month-long celebration of music, dance, and culture.
The carnival, one of the largest and most popular in Africa, attracted thousands of visitors from around the world.
The event featured a variety of activities, including street parties, cultural performances, and competitions.
The grand finale of the carnival was held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, where thousands of revelers gathered to watch the final performances. The event showcased a range of acts, including music, dance, and acrobatic displays.
A highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners of various competitions, including the Cultural Carnival, Local Government, Junior Carnival, and Band of the Year categories.
In the Cultural Carnival category, Akwa Ibom took the top spot, with Osun and Delta coming in second and third, respectively.
In the Local Government category, Yakurr emerged victorious, followed by Calabar South and Odukpani in second and third place.

The Junior Carnival category saw Calas Vegas claim the top position, with Seagull and Bayside securing second and third places, respectively.
In the highly competitive Band of the Year category, Calas Vegas once again emerged as the winner, with Seagull and Freedom taking second and third places.
The Carnival Calabar 2024 was widely regarded as a huge success, with many praising the organizers for their hard work and dedication.
The event was celebrated as a showcase of African culture and heritage, attracting attendees from across the globe.
The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, pledged to elevate the carnival to the global stage in 2025, leaving many eagerly anticipating next year’s event.
