Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Idanre local government area of Ondo State have expressed their desire to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in retaining the seat in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The people of the area said they decided to throw their weight behind Aiyedatiwa to emerge in the primary election of the APC because of the development witnessed in the state within the last three months.
They stated this during Aiyedatiwa’s campaign tour to the local government on Sunday, in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial primary of the APC scheduled for this Saturday.
The Governor, who also received a warm welcome from enthusiastic supporters during visits to Akure North and Idanre local government areas, promised to consolidate on the good work of his late principal, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Addressing the crowd of party members gathered at Iju in Akure North, the Governor said: “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed party leaders and commend the dedication of all our party members.
“I encourage each of you to turn out in full strength on April 20 and cast your votes in my favor.
“Previously, I believed your support was primarily evident on social media. However, I now realize it extends beyond just the youth demographic, as our elders are also standing in my favor.
“I deeply appreciate the love, commitment, and loyalty you have shown towards my mission to continue serving as the governor of Ondo State.
“Now, I urge party members who possess membership cards to come out and vote for me this Saturday, so that we can embark on this remarkable journey together in the upcoming election in November.”
Earlier, the Governor had paid a visit to the Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, and was also received by other traditional rulers in Akure North, where the governor received royal blessings.

The Governor also led his team to pay a visit to a leader of the party in the local government, Senator Nimbe Farunkanmi, who also declared support for the Governor.
The campaign was carnival-like at Idanre, headquarters of Idanre local government area, where party members mobilized to welcome the Governor.
On his way to the campaign venue, the Governor paid a visit to the Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Aroloye, appreciating the traditional ruler for endorsing him and promising not to disappoint the royal fathers.
The Owa of Idanre, represented by the Odunwo, High Chief Emmanuel Adetuyi, offered blessings and prayers for the Governor’s success in the upcoming primary election of the APC.
Addressing party faithful, Governor Aiyedatiwa appreciated them for their solidarity with a pledge to sustain the good governance he had started in the State.
The Governor said: “In the brief period since taking office, you all have witnessed the significant transformations under our administration, from infrastructure to agriculture, food security to employment of youths, and security of lives and property, just to mention a few. I pledge to sustain this momentum and deliver further progress. All I ask from you is the opportunity to continue. To make this possible, I urge you to cast your votes in my favor during the primary election this Saturday.”
Those on the entourage of the Governor included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; SSG, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi; former Deputy Senate Leader, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice; Ambassador Olusola Iji; among others.
