Leaders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State have asked the residents of the state to join hands together in ensuring victory for governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
The leaders of the party, who converged on Oka Akoko, the council headquarters, said the state has experienced transformational leadership under the governor and vowed to mobilise support and votes for him to ensure Aiyedatiwa’s victory.
Speaking, the former Speaker of the House Assembly in the state, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan called for unity among the party faithful in preparation for the governorship election in the state.
Olabimtan, the State SUBEB Chairman, encouraged party members to embrace teamwork, emphasising that only a united APC can clinch victory and retain its position as the best party that has ever governed the state.
He disclosed that plans have been perfected in the local government and in the state to engage people in house-to-house and door-to-door campaigns to mobilise votes for the Aiyedatiwa.
He said, “There is no internal challenge within APC; our strength as a party lies in our unity. So ahead of the election, it is imperative that we rally together, transcending individual ambitions for the collective success of our party.”
The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Transportation, Akogun Olugbenga Omole, expressed confidence in the APC winning the elections due to the party’s current political strength.
Omole emphasised the importance of unity and cooperation to capitalise on the administration’s successes, saying, “To achieve victory in the upcoming election, it is crucial that all members work together and focus on our common goals.
He pointed out that the struggle for the election of the governor was borne out of youth engagement, massive growth, and infrastructural development being enjoyed by the citizens and residents of the state.
He said the APC in the local government would organise meetings, sensitisation, and house-to-house campaigns at the grassroots to actualise the re-election of Governor Aiyedatiwa in November.
He commended party members for coming out in their numbers to attend the meeting and charged the members to sustain their support for Aiyedatiwa to record massive votes in the local government on November 16, 2024.
On his part, Johnson Alabi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, tasked all ward chairmen to mobilise their wards for the party’s success.
According to Hon. Ade Adeogun, a former lawmaker representing Àkókò SW/SE, the local government has a solid structure to deliver Aiyedatiwa’s success.
The APC Party Chairman in Akókó South West, Chief Olashehinde Mise, urged party members to remain united.
Other stakeholders present at the meeting included a former Secretary to the Ondo State government, Chief Abdulkadir Olajide Ajana, Prince Boye Ologbese Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Affairs; Barr. Felix Alonge, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Involvement; Mr Gbenga Atiba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security; Elder Lawrence Rogbitan, Chairman of the APC Akoko South West Elder Council; Rt. Hon. Dare Emiola, Chairman of the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission; and a host of other Party Leaders.
