Rotary Club of Ibadan has inaugurated the Chief Executive Officer, Agrocon Investment Limited, Rotarian Abiodun Ajayi, as its 63rd President.
The club during the event aswell inducted its new board members and raised some funds to carry out some of its projects including the Ajoke Girl Child Project, Economic and Community Development, Peace and Conflict Prevention, Water and Sanitation, Disease Prevention, Maternal and Child Health, Environment and Club House Project among others.
While the investiture also witnessed the presentation of Rotary branded gifts and bannerettes to the chairman of the occasion, Adebayo Adisa and other important dignitaries at the event including the Past International Vice President of the club , Yinka Babalola and a Past District Governor and Chairman of BOVAS Group, Architect Bamidele Samson, among others.
The event took place on Thursday at Rotary Club of Ibadan House, Iyaganku, GRA, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In his acceptance speech, the newly Inducted president, Ajayi expressed delight over the honour accorded to him to lead the group and urged members to support his administration to achieve their objectives.
He noted that he and his board members will strive to encourage the participation of all the members in all the club’s service projects.
Ajayi described the club as an organisation that takes care of its members as well as the community it serves.
The Club investiture chairman, Fisayo Ogunbiyi who spoke at the event, explained that the event is meant to portray laudable projects of the club for the year in the service to humanity.
He added that the idea behind the investiture of the Club’s president and members of the board was also to raise funds and steer the ship of the Club for the next year.
Earlier in his address, the guest speaker, Dr Adeyinka Hassan who delved into “Effective Humanitarian Governance and the Society “ described humanitarian governance as an attempt to regulate humanitarian fields.
According to him, humanitarian governance plays an important role in addressing the needs of marginalized and vulnerable populations and promoting sustainable development in society.
He further stated that “by upholding principles such as humanity, impartiality, accountability, respect for human rights and independence, humanitarian governance can contribute to building more resilient and equitable societies that are better equipped to recover and withstand crises.
“Addressing the challenges to humanitarian governance is important for ensuring a swift and efficient government whose priority is the well-being and development of the society and the people it is serving “, he concluded.
