Airtel Uganda has raised the bar for internet services, announcing its new Airtel Business Xstream Wireless and Xstream Fiber packages. These plans, unveiled today, are tailor-made for business owners who need reliable, high-speed internet bundled with essential mobile services like data, voice, and SMS.
What’s in the Xstream Wireless Plans?
Airtel’s Xstream Wireless packages combine high-speed wireless internet with mobile data, voice minutes, and SMS for an all-in-one solution:

- Wireless Lite: UGX 160,000 gets you 5GB of mobile data, 100 SMS, 600 on-net voice minutes, and speeds of up to 30Mbps.
- Wireless Power: UGX 200,000 offers 15GB of mobile data, 300 SMS, 650 on-net minutes, 250 all-net minutes, and speeds of up to 45Mbps.
- Wireless Pro: UGX 310,000 gives you 25GB of mobile data, 300 SMS, 550 on-net minutes, 400 all-net minutes, and speeds of up to 60Mbps.
These plans are designed for the “mugaga” or the business owner who pays the bill, delivering a comprehensive package that covers both work and communication needs.
Xstream Fiber: Unlimited Internet for Businesses
The Xstream Fiber packages, which offer unlimited internet for businesses, come with three tiers to suit various budgets and needs:
- Fiber Lite: UGX 300,000/month for speeds up to 40Mbps.
- Fiber Power: UGX 500,000/month for speeds up to 100Mbps.
- Fiber Pro: UGX 900,000/month for speeds up to 300Mbps.
What makes Airtel’s Xstream packages stand out is the combination of unlimited internet with mobile data, voice, and SMS. This integrated approach is something their closest competitor, MTN Uganda, does not offer.
MTN Uganda’s offerings, such as Wakanet Fiber and Wakanet 5G, provide high-speed internet but lack the bundled mobile services specifically voice and SMS that Airtel now delivers. For example:
- Wakanet Fiber: Plans start at UGX 130,000/month for 60Mbps and go up to UGX 295,000 for 200Mbps.
- Wakanet 5G: UGX 130,000 for 10Mbps, UGX 195,000 for 20Mbps, and UGX 395,000 for 60Mbps.
- 4G LTE: Starts at UGX 85,000 for 5Mbps.
While MTN’s speeds and pricing are competitive, they lack the all-in-one convenience of Airtel’s packages. Obviously, we won’t be surprised when big yellow announces similar packages in the coming weeks.
For a broader perspective, Canal Box, a fiber-to-home provider, offers highly affordable plans like 50Mbps for UGX 110,000 and 200Mbps for UGX 200,000. Similar Internet providers that aren’t traditional telecos such as Roke, SprintUG, Savannah Fiber, Simba Fiber and Zuku have competitive packages for home owners and businesses without the voice and SMS bundles. So it’s up to you to decide which one works for you.
