The African School of Governance (ASG), Kigali, Rwanda, has announced the appointment of its Executive Management Team, composed of distinguished professors and professionals with extensive experience in managing prominent universities and educational institutions.
A press release by Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, President of ASG, listed the team members as Prof. Anna Lucy Mdee (Acting Vice-President of Academic Affairs), Mark Nkurunziza (Vice-President for Finance and Operations), Dr. Jane Adhiambo Chiroma, Ms. Ngozichukwu C. Njemanze, Ms. Aissatou Diajhate, and Dr. Edward Kadozi (Director of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor).
ASG is a graduate-level institution committed to transforming leadership and governance in Africa. Prof. Moghalu said the new leadership “reflects the school’s commitment to academic excellence in governance, transformative education, and strategic innovation in governance.”
Prof. Mdee, a professor in the Politics of Global Development at the University of Leeds, UK, is a seasoned academic leader, teacher, and researcher. Her work has spanned various aspects of development in Africa, including water security, sanitation and sustainable development, informal workers and social protection, local governance and service delivery, and gender mainstreaming over more than 25 years. She obtained a PhD in International Development at the University of Bradford, UK, an M.A. in Social Sciences from Open University, and an M.A. in Social Anthropology from Cambridge University.
Dr. Kadozi was a Senior Lecturer in environmental economics, migration and development, and development economics in graduate programs at the University of Rwanda and Kigali Independent University. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Amsterdam, a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Tsinghua University in China, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Rwanda.
Dr. Nartey joins ASG leadership as Director of Executive Education and Associate Professor. She holds a PhD in Management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, an MS in Management from The Wharton School, an MPA in Public & Nonprofit Management and Policy from the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University (NYU), and a B.Sc (First Class Honours) in Biological Sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.
Dr. Chiroma, Head of Quality Assurance and Associate Professor, as well as the Acting Academic Registrar, has expertise in higher education leadership, quality assurance, and curriculum development. She has significantly contributed to academic excellence, digital learning, and institutional capacity building across Africa.
Ms. Njemanze, Director and Senior Policy Adviser and Chief of Staff to the President of ASG, is a Certified Governance Auditor, Bank Examiner, Chartered Secretary and Administrator. She is a corporate governance thought leader and was Principal Manager in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s Financial System Stability Directorate. She previously worked at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington DC for five years.
Ms. Aissatou Diajhate, Director of External Affairs and Acting Director of Admissions, has a strong background in institutional partnerships, philanthropy, and student engagement. She will lead strategic initiatives to enhance the university’s external relations and streamline inaugural student admission processes.
