The Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has advocated strict preventive measures to forestall future fatal stampede as witnessed recently in Ibadan, Abuja and Okija in Anambra state.
This was contained in statement, signed by the Deputy leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan and National Publicity Secretary,Prince Justice Faloye, commiserating with families that lost their members in various stampedes during Christmas giveaways across the nation.
The group sympathised with families of the victims of stampedes and wished them succour as they grieve and lay their dead to rest.
“We also hope for more preventive and organizational guidelines to prevent future reoccurrences.
“Afenifere hopes for better welfare and security for Nigerians as a whole.
“In 2025, we wish to see a turnaround move towards an egalitarian society that values lives and rights of everyone.
“We hope the Tinubu administration makes life more abundant for all by prioritizing and accelerating Nigeria’s political and economic development, with better people conscious economic reforms and fair and just political restructuring”, the group said
