Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali passed a late fitness test and has been handed a starting role ahead of Nigeria’s quarter-final fixture against Angola at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Chippa United goalkeeper was injured during the Super Eagles Round of 16 match against Cameroon, but has now recovered quickly and was cleared by Nigeria’s medical fit for the cracker against Angola at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Friday.
The Super Eagles will be looking to secure a spot in the semi-finals and a win for the three-time champions will brighten their hope of achieving a fourth AFCON.
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has adopted his 3-4-3 formation which has worked for him since the start of the tournament.
William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi will lead the Super Eagles defence that has been rock solid conceding just one goal in four matches
Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi will provide support to both the left and right backs to further solidify the defence against Cameroon’s attacking threat.
Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi will spearhead the midfield pack for Nigeria, while Victor Osimhen leads the Super Eagles attacking line with support from Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon.
