Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, queried the media, asking if he was not good enough during Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.
This was after the media demanded an explanation from officials on why Kelechi Iheanacho was replaced at the press conference by the Nottingham Forests star.
The Super Eagles will take on South Africa in the semifinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON on Wednesday.
Iheanacho was the Super Eagles player selected to accompany coach Jose Peseiro for the event but surprisingly it was Ola Aina who replaced the former Manchester City man.
Iheanacho has not featured for the Super Eagles in any of the matches played at the tournament.
During the press briefing, Peseiro was asked to explain the absence of the Leicester City star but it was Aina that responded saying, “Am I not good enough? I’m just double-checking”.
NIgerian Media Officer, Babafemi Raji, clarified later that Iheanacho was replaced by the former Chelsea and Torino star.
