Super Eagles defender in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cote d’Ivoire, Kenneth Omeruo, has revealed why the team has done well so far in the tournament.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the three-time African champions defeated Angola 1-0 on Friday to book a place in the semi-final of the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
However, the Kasampasa defender said he is not getting carried away despite the Super Eagles’ display at the competition.
Nigeria’s win over Angola means they have won four consecutive games without conceding a goal.
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro had brought in Omeruo to replace Ademola Lookman in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Omeruo told reporters in the mixed zone: “I feel good; there is still work to be done, but I’m happy we could win this game because there was a lot of talk from the media and all, but we stayed concentrated. We kept to our game plan, and at the end of the day, we won.”
Asked why the team is doing well so far, the Turkey-based defender said, “The unity between us and the tactics of the coach.”
