A Chieftain of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP), Damilare Abioro, has asked President Bola Tinubu to quickly address the rising cost of living.
The politician also called on Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to make more intervention programmes to cushion the hardships in the State Abioro, in a statement he personally signed on Thursday and made available to newsmen, described the current economic situation in the country as alarming and disturbing.
The politician explained that the level of poverty and hunger being faced by the citizens is posing great threats to the survival of the country.
He added that failure by the President to quickly address the situation may lead to people revolting especially with the pockets of protests in many parts of the country.
“There is need for the President to act and act fast to prevent the uprising brewing across the country.
“People are going through a lot at the moment especially with the prices of food commodities skyrocketing by the day.
“Many Nigerians cannot boast of a meal per day. The prices of various items are increasing on daily basis. We cannot continue like this, the President, Governor and elected officials must rise to the occasion,” the NNPP Chieftain emphasised.

Meanwhile, the NNPP Senatorial aspirant asked Governor Abiodun to also augment the efforts of President Tinubu to cushion the hardships.
“While I commend the Ogun State Governor for the N5 billion intervention fund, there is need to rise to the occasion by rolling out more palliatives for various sectors in the state,” Mr. Abioro added.
