As plans to ensure that retirees get their gratuities as and when due, the Adamawa State Government has inaugurated an adhoc committee on payment of three billion naira gratuity to retirees recently released by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Inaugurating the committee on behalf of the state government, Secretary to the state government, Auwal D Tukur said the responsibility given to the committee is enormous.
Adding that Governor Fintiri is concerned with the development, hence the release of the fund, and encouraged timely execution so as to clear backlogs of the gratuities.
The committee is expected to oversee the payment of the three billion naira released by the governor, ensure payment of gratuity beginning with the earliest retirees and followed sequentially.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Benson D Jelani underscored their to deliver on the assignment towards ensuring that the retired civil servants get their benefits.

Members of the committee have Engr. Benson D. Jelani Chairman while Auditor General Usman Ahmed, Accountant General Kefas James, and Chairman Nigeria Union of Pensioners Comr. Mohammed Sali will serve as member.
Other members include Ibrahim Emmanuel, Hassan Muhammed Kolo Head of Legal Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and other related offences, Hassan Mailafiya DD OPS DSS, and Philemon John Kayeni Secretary.
The committee is to complete the task within two weeks.
