Nigerian actress and comedian Wofai Fada has announced the arrival of a baby girl with her husband, Taiwo Cole.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, the actress, who has faced scrutiny from her husband’s family over their relationship, shared pictures of the baby, prompting congratulatory messages from her associates and followers alike.
Fada expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the arrival of the “precious gift,” describing the moment as joyous. She also revealed the baby’s name as Ifedayo Konaghai Cole.
“We are forever grateful to God for this precious gift. Our princess is here. My joy is complete,” Fada wrote.
On 27 October 2024, the couple had their legal wedding following months of public controversy after videos from their traditional wedding in Calabar, Cross River, surfaced in May.
The legal ceremony was held at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos State. Sharing the news with her 1.2 million Instagram followers, Fada captioned her post, “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite. Legally hitched. taiwo.cole.7 #TWOforever. #MrsCole. #2 of 3, and forever to go.”
Shortly after the registry wedding, Taiwo’s family issued a public statement denouncing the union, according to the family patriarch, Kunle Cole.
“This serves to notify all acquaintances, family, and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, is not aware of any marriage ceremony involving our son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole; nor did we grant permission or support in this regard.
“As such, person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole family by virtue of this purported event are neither known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this should be disregarded,” the statement read.
In May 2024, the actress celebrated her 34th birthday, putting an end to speculations surrounding her relationship with Cole, 30.
Fada’s followers flooded the comments section to congratulate the family on the arrival of their daughter.
Media entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of EbonyLife Media, Mo Abudu, wrote, “Congratulations, my darling. She is beautiful.”
Nollywood actress Nancy Isime wrote, “Congratulations.”
Other notable figures, including Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna and Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala, expressed their joy with heart emojis.
A user, Rachael Okangbe, commented, “When I saw a missed call from you, I felt maybe she has put to bed. God is awesome. Big congrats, super mum.”
