The Zamfara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACRESAL) in collaboration with Focal NGO has conducted training and sensitisation on Sustainable Land Management (SLM) and Climate Resilience Agriculture (CRA) for key stakeholders in the state.
The training was conducted for the 2 catchments of 3 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Zamfara ACReSAL project with aimed to Enhance the knowledge and skills of extension agents, Community Interest Groups (CIGs), Local Government Project Implementation Committees (LGPICs), farmers, and community leaders on SLM and CRA practices.
In his remarks, the Zamfara state project coordinator ACRESAL Nasiru Bello said the training was also aimed to Promote the adoption of SLM and CRA practices among farmers and agricultural communities in the project area.
“This training would also Improve the resilience of agricultural communities to climate change and variability, strengthen the capacity of extension agents, CIGs, LGPICs, and community leaders to support the implementation of SLM and CRA practices,” he stated.
He emphasized that it would Foster collaboration and coordination among stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of SLM and CRA practices.
The training covered key topics such as conservation agriculture, agroforestry, integrated soil fertility management, and climate-smart agriculture, among others.
The Nigeria Tribune gathered that the training is expected to contribute to the overall goal of the ACReSAL project, which is to improve the livelihoods of rural communities in Zamfara State through sustainable agriculture and natural resource management practices.
