A motley crowd and supporters of the embattled National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barr Julius Abure, assembled at the venue of the meeting held by Nigerian Labour Stakeholders to protest the discussion regarding the future of the party.
The pro-Abure protesters were observed carrying placards with various inscriptions, demanding that the NLC should not intervene in the affairs of the Labour Party under Abure’s leadership, declaring him as the authentic leader.
“On Abure’s mandate we shall stand,” read one placard, while another stated, “Nnewi National Convention is valid.”

The pro-Abure leadership of the Labour Party denounced the stakeholders meeting called by NLC as an act of meddling interference in the internal affairs of the Labour Party.
The protesters encountered policemen deployed to secure the venue of the meeting, and they were professionally restricted from entering the meeting hall.
Taking advantage of the space outside, the motley crowd danced and sang solidarity songs in support of the Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party.
