The Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) Multi-system hospital has revealed it would soon commence discounted surgical services for goitre and hernia patients in Ekiti and other neighbouring states.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe who spoke with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Wednesday said the gesture was part of the commitment of the founder, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN towards ensuring quality healthcare services for the residents.
He disclosed the two annexes of the hospital in Igirigiri and Basiri areas of the state capital were opened with modern equipment and qualified personnel to ensure convenient and easy access of people at the grassroots to the services rendered.
The CMD explained that apart from the surgical operations, the hospital in the last one year has been offering free antenatal care for pregnant women and immunization for children under the age of five.
He called on the people of the state and beyond regardless of their social class to approach the hospital and its annexes to access affordable and quality healthcare services.
Ogundipe said, “In our continuous commitment to serve the community and enhance the accessibility of quality healthcare, we are thrilled to announce the launch of some health initiatives aimed at supporting both the highly placed and the underprivileged members of our society.
Firstly, we are offering discounted surgical procedures for individuals suffering from goitre and hernia. These conditions, if left untreated, can lead to serious health complications, and we believe that financial constraints should not be a barrier to receiving necessary medical care.
“Thus, those who are enrolled on the programme will not have to pay for the surgical fee. The modality of recruiting patients will be advertised shortly.

“In addition, we recognize the importance of maternal and child health as cornerstones of a thriving community. To support this, we have been providing free antenatal registration and consultation services to pregnant women.
“This initiative is designed to ensure that expectant mothers receive the best possible care during this critical period, without the worry of medical expenses.
“Furthermore, the future of our society lies in the well-being of our children. To safeguard this future, we are offering free registration, consultation, and immunization services to children under the age of five.
“These early years are crucial for the development of a healthy immune system, and we are committed to making sure that our children’s health is not compromised.
“These measures are a testament to our dedication to the people we serve. We believe that everyone has the right to healthcare, and through these programs, we aim to make that a reality for the people of Ado-Ekiti and beyond.”
The CMD called on the government at all levels to provide health insurance packages for the citizens to have access to healthcare services without financial constraints, adding that healthy citizens would contribute to the growth and development of the society.
