Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has urged the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, to mobilise contractors back to sites to complete abandoned NDDC projects scattered across Abia State.
The governor stated this when he received the minister and his team, who were in the state to inspect road projects being handled in the state by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and NDDC.
He regretted that Abia is a major victim of abandoned NDDC projects, noting that some other NDDC roads in the state were deplorable and needed attention.
According to the governor, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and NDDC were important to the Niger Delta region and he appreciated the minister for visiting Abia for the road inspection tour.
The governor, who noted that the major problem that militated against the completion of some of the NDDC road projects was long-standing debt for jobs executed, appealed to the minister to take a critical look at the issue to get the projects back on track.
He commended the minister for embarking on the inspection visit and assured him that Abia would partner with him to ensure his goals were achieved.
Earlier in his speech, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, lauded Governor Otti for improved security in Abia at the moment and appealed to him to continue to make peace in the region a top priority for the economic prosperity of the people.
Momoh said his ministry is not in competition with states but rather collaborates with them to achieve meaningful development, adding that there should be a robust relationship between the two to achieve results.
