The Ebonyi State Government has sealed three petrol stations in Abakaliki, the state capital, over alleged involvement in illegal practices, including meter adjustments and under-dispensing.
The Special Assistant to Governor Francis Nwifuru on Petroleum, Mr. Nwafor Nnaemeka, made this announcement while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki.
Nnaemeka cautioned that more petrol stations would be sealed if they fail to meet the demands of the masses.
He advised petroleum dealers and marketers in the 13 local government areas of the state to desist from fraud and ensure fair fuel supply and distribution.
Nnaemeka attributed the fuel pump price hike to a global menace, citing unavailability of products and depot price increases.
He further stated that the state government has been working to prevent under-dispensing and has deployed a task force to monitor fuel stations.
He stressed that the government would not tolerate defrauding of the masses and that those found guilty will face the full wrath of the law.
