Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting excellence in public communication and supporting the NIPR’s role in shaping Nigeria’s communication landscape.
The Governor made the statement during the Annual General Meeting( AGM) of the NIPR Bauchi State chapter, where he emphasised the importance of effective communication in governance and nation-building.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim, the Governor directed the engagement of all Public Relations Officers (PROs) and information officers from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to ensure professional dissemination of government policies and programs.
According to him, the engagement includes training and capacity-building programmes for PROs and Information Officers to enhance their skills and professionalism.
Bala Mohammed also said that his administration will continue to support activities of public relations practitioners to enable them facilitate effective communication and mobilization.
The Governor commended NIPR practitioners for their roles in shaping the society through strategic communication and development that his administration will continue to support such initiatives for the overall development of the state.
He urged them to ensure strategic communication and public enlightenment for societal re orientation and development.
National President of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku commended Governor Bala for his support and said that NIPR as a professional body is all encompassing with the sole aim of moving the country forward.
In his address, Chairman of the NIPR, Bauchi State chapter, Alhaji Rabiu Wada, expressed gratitude for the state government’s support towards the successful organization of the AGM.
He, however, appealed to Governor Bala to provide the institute with a befitting office accommodation to facilitate its activities.
Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu appreciated the institute for the recognition and pledged to continue to contribute towards the success of its activities.
The Chairperson, 2024 AC/AGM Planning Committee, Kaltume Abdullahi Shall had earlier appreciated Governor Bala for his constant support to NIPR and that the institute will continue to partner Bauchi State Government in achieving success.
Notable personalities including the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, Malam Inuwa Bello, Andy Iheme were recognized with a notable awards and induction during the ceremony.
NIPR also presented an award to the Managing Director /CEO of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, represented by the Commission’s Head of Corporate Communications, Alh Abba Musa.
The NEDC boss noted that the roles of public relations cannot be over emphasised and that the commission would continue to partner them in achieving success.
