The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Abbas Tajudeen, will engage a segment of Nigerian youths participating in the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) on Wednesday.
This comes just over a month after the Speaker’s engagement with a broader segment of Nigerian youths on July 31, 2024, at a town hall meeting attended by over 25 youth groups.
During that meeting, the Speaker promised the Nigerian youth that the House would hold a youth dialogue twice annually to better understand their concerns and work towards finding solutions.
Continuing his engagement, Speaker Abbas will meet with the participants of LMI Cohort 3 at the National Assembly on Wednesday in a session titled “An Afternoon with the Speaker.”

In this session, the Speaker is expected to share his life experiences and leadership tips with the Fellows, as well as highlight the initiatives by the 10th House to support youth leadership and encourage their participation in politics, among other topics.
The LMI is an initiative founded in 2022 by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who is now Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The program is designed to equip and empower dynamic young leaders interested in public sector leadership, particularly in the legislature, by providing them with hands-on training and engagement in governance and public service through collaborative and inclusive leadership.
The mission of the initiative is to develop the next generation of legislators and ethical public sector leaders who are well-equipped with responsive leadership skills, knowledge, and expertise to enhance public service delivery and foster national cohesion.
