President Bola Tinubu arrived in Beijing, China on Sunday morning for a 5-day official state visit.
Tinubu’s presidential aircraft reported landed at Beijing’s Capital International Airport around 9 a.m. local time and he was received by key Chinese government officials.
He was welcomed by the governors of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu, and Kaduna State, Sani Uba, as well as members of his cabinet upon arrival.
During his visit, President Tinubu will attend the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit from September 4-6. The summit’s theme is “Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Build High-Level China-Africa Community with Shared Future.”
Tinubu will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of FOCAC.
He is expected to sign memorandums of understanding and lead an African presentation at the summit.
The President’s agenda includes visits to major corporations such as Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation (CRCC). Discussions with CRCC aim to expedite the completion of the Ibadan to Abuja segment of the Lagos to Kano high-speed rail line.
