A 35 year woman, Baralabe Tijjani has been killed in Makwarari area of Kano State following the collapse of a building housing her home.
The tragic incident , which was caused by days of sporadiic rainfall, also injured her 9 and 12 year old children, according to witnessss
Her husband, Tijjani Magaji, confirmed the loss and said the rain began on Thursday night and continued till
Friday.
Confirming also on Saturday, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the one-storey building collapsed at about 9:30 am on Friday.
“Therefore, the building crushed three people, mother, Balaraba Abba about 35 years old and two children, Abdulnasir Jilani about 12 years old and Abdullahi Jilani about 9 years old.
“With the efforts of the people around the area all victims were rescued alive and taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital, Kano where she eventually died,” he added.
