Members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) have been commended for their immense contributions to nation building, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, agriculture and rural infrastructure.
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, gave the commendation on Friday, during the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch B Stream II Corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, Fubara further eulogized Corps members for their patriotism and commitment in improving the lives of the rural dwellers through execution of community development projects.
He requested the management of the Scheme to think out of the box always in order to strategically position the scheme and Corps members into self-sustenance.
He assured that his administration will always offer support to the scheme to improve her operations, especially in the area of skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development (SAED) programme.
In his welcome address, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang, urged the Corps members to use the opportunity of the service year to uplift the nation.
He informed the Corps members that the country earnestly craves for peace and prosperity, informing them that they were in advantaged position to drive the above charge as agents of positive change.
He concluded by encouraging the Corps members to make honest and patriotic sacrifices always to re-engineer socioeconomic growth and development of the country.
The Oath of Allegiance was administered on the Corps members by Justice Godwin Osaronu Ollor on behalf of the Chief Judge of the State.
Prominent personalities including the Ag. Director, NYSC South South Area Office II, Mr. Enaberue Ehiatomhe Philip graced the occasion.
