The Arewa Youth Assembly has clashed with the Coalition of Northern Youths Organization over the call made to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack Engr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
Following the reports of the importation of toxic fuel into country, the Coalition of Northern Youths Organization had called for immediate sack of the NMDPRA boss.
Arogidigba Global Journal reported that Nigeria Citizens’ Watch for Good Governance had also in a statement signed by its National President, Eshiofeh Collins, claimed that substandard petroleum products are being imported from Russia via Malta, blended, and shipped to Nigeria, violating the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA, and putting the health of Nigerians at risk.
They called for immediate investigation by the authorities, threatening to occupy filling stations across the country.
However, the Arewa Youth Assembly want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reject the call for the removal of the NMDPRA boss.
A statement signed by Mohammed Danlami, its Speaker, said, “We vehemently resist the shameful and unpatriotic actions of this faceless group impersonating Northern Youths.
“They are not true Northerners but criminals who are chaos-thirsty and out to cause a nuisance.
“We are in total disagreement with their lies and therefore distance ourselves from them and strongly condemn their ill-intended actions.
“We admonish President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to disregard the call to sack the Chief Executive Officer, as it lacks basis and substance.
“We also call on security agencies to bring these criminals to justice for impersonating the Northern Youths and attempting to blackmail the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).”
