Dr Anthony Uga has assumed duty as the new Sector Commander (SC) of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Imo.
This is contained in a release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Chibunna Nwamgborogwu, made available to newsmen in Owerri, on Tuesday.
Nwamgborogwu said that the Sector Commander who took over from Mr Evaristus Ebeniro assumed duty on Aug. 8, 2024.
He described Uga as “ a square peg in a square hole whose wealth of experience will be brought to bear in the discharge of his duties in Imo.
“ He holds a doctorate degree in History and International Relations from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nusukka.
“ He served as Corps Commander in charge of transport under the Corps’ Department of Technical Services before his redeployment to Ogun state where he served from July 2023 to July 2024.
“ He assumed duty as Corps Commander of the FRSC in Imo on August 8, 2024 “ , Nwamgborogwu said.
Uga who later spoke to newsmen affirmed his commitment to discharging his duties to the best of his abilities.
He said that in addition to checkmating infractions, the command under his watch would synergise with other security agencies in intelligence gathering to fight insecurity.
He advised motorists to always obey traffic rules adding that tow truck operatives of the FRSC who are always on red alert, will clear all wrongly parked vehicles without recourse to whose ox is gored.
He added that the command will intensify its public awareness campaign through more engagements through the conventional and social media channels.
“ Every Tuesday morning, we engage Imo people on radio and sensitise them on the need to obey traffic rules, including avoiding infractions such as wrong parking.
“ This is yielding the desired result and we will do more in close synergy with all stakeholders “, he said.
He expressed optimism that with the cooperation of Imo people, the command will attain new milestones.
