Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late District Head, the people of Sabon Birni Local Government Area, and the entire people of the state over the passing away of the District Head of Gatawa, Alhaji Isa Muhmmed Bawa, who was gruesomely murdered by his kidnappers.
The governor in a condolence message signed and made available to newsmen by his media aide, Abubakar Bawa, on Thursday, described the circumstances leading to the demise of the late monarch as very unfortunate, barbaric, inhumane, and condemnable.
Bawa said the governor, who received the sad news of the death of the district head with deep shock, described the monarch as pious, upright, honest and a peace-loving personality who dedicated his life to the service of his people and humanity as a whole.
“Governor Aliyu prayed to the Almighty Allah to admit the late monarch in the best of Paradise and give his family and the entire people of Sabon Birni Local Government the fortitude to bear the loss.
“The governor reiterated that his administration is doing a lot and would continue to use all the available resources to bring banditry to an end, and appealed to the people of the State to support Security agencies with relevant information so as to nip banditry in the bud.
“He further called on people to continue to pray to Almighty Allah to assist the present administration in its quest to rid the state of banditry and other criminal activities.
“H charged the security agencies in the state to intensify efforts to secure the state at all times and ensure that the killers of the late monarch are fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Also, the former governor of the state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in a condolence message, vehemently condemned the heinous act, urging authorities to swiftly apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He called on security agencies to intensify their efforts to track down the culprits threatening the nation’s peace and stability.
In a statement, Senator Tambuwal said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, Sultanate Council of Sokoto, and the people of Gatawa and Sabon Birni Local Government Area during this difficult time.”
He prayed that Allah grant the soul of His Royal Highness eternal peace and that his legacy of selfless service continue to inspire future generations.
In a related development, the Sokoto State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the death of Sarkin Gobir Alh Isah Muhammadu Bawa, the Sarkin Kudun Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government, at the hands of kidnappers.
A statement signed and made available by the spokesman of the party in the state, Hassan Sanyinlawa, describes the late Sarkin Gobir as a distinguished gentleman and respected traditional ruler who contributed immensely to the development of the Sokoto Caliphate and Nigeria in general.
“Sokoto Caliphate has indeed lost a father and a respected leader who lived a life of service to the Caliphate, Nigeria and humanity, especially in the effort to combat insecurity in the state and the nation as a whole.
“The PDP Sokoto State chapter prays to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus and give his household and the entire state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
The late Sarkin Gobir was kidnapped, along with his biological son, some weeks ago, a regrettable incident that the PDP views as part of the unfortunate and condemnable insecurity situation bedevilling the nation, our dear state, and the Sokoto Eastern Zone in particular.
