Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris has doled out cash, food items to over 150 female and male patients at the hospital as well as over 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from various villages in Borno State.
Idris, who visited patients at Sir Yahyah General hospital, Birnin Kebbi, female and male wards, gave them cash.
While at the IDPs camp at Malala, Bayan Oando and Ambursa town, she informed them that the present administration would continue to support them to be living a better lives.
The governor’s wife, who was represented by the Commissioner for Higher education, Dr. Halima Bande explained that the World humanitarian day has been set aside annually to help the less privileged in the society.
She said, “The Governor’s wife is making alot of efforts to assist the vulnerable people in the society, most especially, she has the interest of women at heart.
“Her Excellency loves to empower women so that they could be free from any difficulties and poor living conditions.
“That is why she delegated us to visit hospital,IDPs, despite her absent. This shows that she has the interest of women, children, patients at the hospital and IDPs at heart.”
The governor’s wife who disclosed that over 150 women have been reached out to as well as IDPs stressed that they are following this year’s theme ‘Act for humanity’ by visiting the less privileged in the state.
Earlier, a women leader at the IDPs camp, Bayan Oando, Birnin Kebbi, Indo Abubakar from Borno on behalf of others appreciated the food items donated to them and informed the Governor’s wife’s delegates that the land where they are staying had been sold and they were told to evacuate to other places.
“They have told us to leave this camp because the land have been sold and we are appealing to the government to come to our rescue because we have no place to go.”
Hadiza Aliyu, a woman at IDPs camp from Borno who has been there for the past ten years, also confirmed the relocation directive.
Also, at Ambursa IDPs camp, both women leader, Hajiya Sha’a Musa and men leader, Mallam Muhammad Balab told the governor’s wife’s delegates that they were told to leave the camp.
“We are appealing to the state government to come to our aide. We really appreciate the efforts of the government for always coming down here with palliatives for us.
“This is the fifth time this present administration will be here with relieve items. We are pleading that the government should assist us on this issue of evacuation from this camp.”
While responding,the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Halima Bande assured them that they would deliver their messages to the Governor’s wife, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris and necessary action would be taken.
The Governor’s wife delegates also included the wife of the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hajiya Uwani Usman Muhammed Zuru, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Alisha Maikurata and APC women Leader, Hajia Aisha Muhammad Gunabi among others.
