The Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), on Friday, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State for engaging local contractors in the construction of roads and other infrastructures in the state.
Led by its president, Engr. Margaret Aina, during a tour of ongoing projects, the society expressed satisfaction with the quality of work observed during the inspection.
Aina who spoke during a visit to the governor’s house, said there is no doubt that the quality of job being done is of standard, saying “we are very impressed that the Governor engaged local content, employed Nigerian Engineers for the job and they will not disappoint the state. The job will be delivered as and when due.
Mr Governor, we observed that all the ongoing infrastructure projects of your administration are 95 percent local content, which is highly commendable.
“The technical standards we observed across the projects are also quite high. The construction team also demonstrated top competence and skills.
“That is why we are desirous of partnership with your government to move Osun from a civil service state to an industrialized one. The NSE is fully committed to partnering with your administration to turn Osun into a hub,” Aina added.
Speaking during the inspection, Adeleke expressed satisfaction with the level of work done and urged the contractor to fast track work on the project.
He said, “I am not a Governor that just seat at the office, I have been looking at the project from government house there, but I had to come and see for myself because I am in a hurry to deliver. I wish they will continue at this pace so we can commission the road.
“What they are doing here is a good job. In line with my campaign to deliver a good capital city, we will deliver just that. The contractor handling the project has shown that they are capable of delivering quality road and bridges across the the areas they are sited. I am satisfied with the quality of work being done,” Adeleke said.
The contractor, Engr. Dayo Eluyemi, assured the people of the state that he will deliver a quality and standard job.
“We are even doing integrity jobs on the poles to make sure we are not just doing a work but a quality duty in line with global best practices. We will deliver to time as promised by the governor,” Eluyemi added.
