Youths from Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, have received training on how to utilize Generative AI to enhance workplace productivity.
The event, which was in line with the United Nations’ theme for International Youth Day 2024, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” was led by the Karim Adeyemi Foundation in partnership with SkillNG to commemorate International Youth Day.
The training featured expert facilitators, including Mr. AbdulQuddus Ajibade, who provided an introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Success Ojo, co founder of Gmind AI who discussed the practical application of Gmind AI, and Mr. Olugbenga Ogunbowale founder of Grantmaster, who explored Leveraging Generative AI for Monetisation.
Youth participants from various professions engaged in interactive sessions and gained valuable insights into the evolving role of artificial intelligence in the modern workplace.
Speaking on behalf of Karim Adeyemi Foundation, the President, Abiodun Adeyemi emphasized the foundation’s commitment to empowering young people with tech skills. He highlighted the significant gap in tech proficiency among Nigerian youth and reiterated the foundation’s dedication to bridging this gap to help young people maximize opportunities in tech regardless of their discipline.
“Today’s young people have the potential to achieve far more than we ever could. In our time, technology, social media, and Artificial Intelligence didn’t exist. Now, Generative AI has unlocked countless opportunities, and it’s up to the younger generation to stay open-minded, learn, and master these tools,” he remarked.
Ibrahim Oredola, the co-founder of SkillNG, called for more charity organizations to invest in empowering young people with digital skills. He praised the Karim Adeyemi Foundation for its partnership, which enabled 50 young individuals to participate in the training. Oredola added, “If more organizations show interest, together, we can achieve so much more.”
