The Peoples Democratic Party’s State Executive Committee, SEC, in Benue, has ratified the suspension of former Governor Samuel Ortom and three others for anti-party activities.
The SEC, comprising the State Working Committee, SWC, state assistant officials and local government area party chairmen, affirmed the suspension of Ortom and three others at an emergency meeting of the party at its state secretariat on Tuesday in Makurdi.
They also passed a vote of confidence on the State Working Committee led by the party’s state chairman, John Ngbede.
Arogidigba Global Journal learnt that the suspension of former Governor Ortom by SEC was received with relief by a wide spectrum of members in the state.
It is believed that Ortom’s open support for a rival political party caused his party’s loss in the general election.
Ortom, one of the arrowheads of the G5 governors in the country, directed his supporters to vote for the Labour Party in all the elections.
