The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State condemned the attack on its state secretariat on Monday by miscreants who hijacked the nationwide hunger protest, saying protesters destroyed glasses and looted property at the APC Secretariat in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday night by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, the APC pleaded with the state government and security agencies to ensure the protection of the lives and property of every citizen in the state.
The statement reads in part: “Recall that the APC on Friday cautioned the PDP-led state government against allowing PDP thugs to vent their anger on the APC and its leaders following the attack on Senator Sahabi Ya’u’s residence in Kaura Namoda and the attempt to raze the immediate past governor Matawalle’s residence in Gusau.”
“The APC has also pleaded with both the state government and security agencies to ensure full protection of people’s lives and property.”
“As we cautioned, the hoodlums have gone haywire, forcefully broke into the APC Secretariat situated along Sokoto Bye Pass Road, Gusau, destroyed the facility, including glasses and doors, and carted away furniture and equipment, as well as building materials that were kept in the office stores.”
“They also looted the mini secretariat at the back of the main office, where all the furniture, computers, refrigerators, and other valuables were carted away.”
“We wish to categorically state that this action is unacceptable and condemnable.”
“We are calling on the security agencies who have their personnel deployed to cover the protest with a view to ensuring that it went on peacefully to immediately apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.”
“Our members, supporters, and well-wishers have continued to remain peaceful and law-abiding, but that is not a sign of weakness,” he mentioned.
