Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has on his release from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, on Monday, urged his fans to respect the law and avoid spraying money at parties.
Bobrisky was released after spending six months in incarceration for abusing the naira after spraying it at an event.
In an interview with GoldMyneTV after his release, Bobrisky said, “Follow the rules, abide by the law. Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord inside Kirikiri.”
He added, “It’s not just about killing or any criminal activity, something light like this can take you there.
“I’m only focusing on my friends who were there for me, and I’m grateful. I’m not thinking about any other person.”
Bobrisky hosted a release party hours after his release in what was seen in a video currently in circulation.
PUNCH Metro reports that the crossdresser was sentenced to six months imprisonment on April 12, 2024, for abusing the naira.
At his arraignment at the Federal High Court, Lagos, Bobrisky told the judge, “My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.
“I will do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat this, My Lord. I regret my actions, My Lord.”
Bobrisky who was taken into a custodial centre after the judgement was said to have been treated equally like other inmates.
A top official in the facility who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said the crossdresser was examined at the point of admission.
According to the official, the outcome of the examination revealed that the convict had no realignment of gender or genital organs.
The source said, “Bobrisky made a public declaration that he was a male and court proceedings are public records. Every inmate brought into a facility during admission is examined. He was equally examined and no realignment of gender or genital organ was discovered. The male biological features were the same.
“After that, a cell was allocated to him, and he had a certain number of inmates with him. A bed space was also allotted to him. It is just like a boarding house where your housemaster will issue you your personal belongings.”
