Federal Government workers in Kano are raising concerns over the deteriorating services provided by the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH.
The alleged delays and inefficiencies have significantly affected patient care, the workers lament.
Arogidigba Global Journal spoke with some of the relatives of patients in emergencies and they claimed that most of the staff frequently fail to report to work on time leaving patients stranded.
This has led to critical delays in receiving necessary medical attention, increasing the conditions of those in urgent need of care.
A distressed relative of a patient, who rushed his wife in labour to the hospital said he had been in the area since 8:00 am and nobody had attended to him at the record office to allow him to see the doctor.
Another distressed relative “It’s disheartening to see these records staff are unnecessarily creating delays for patients, this negligence could cost lives.” he said.
The workers are calling for immediate intervention from both the hospital management and the NHIS authorities to address the issues and ensure that the staff adheres to their schedules and responsibilities.
