There was pandemonium yesterday in Katsina State as hoodlums went violent and started destroying government properties forcing people protesting against hunger to scamper for safety.
The hoodlums torched the state Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) headquarters, setting some potions ablaze while they looted some properties.
Some private residences in the vicinity were also robbed by the hoodlums.
As at the time of filling this report, a policeman wa injured by the hoodlums who highjacked the protest while 25 protesters were arrested.
The protesters occupied the Ahmadu Bello Way, Alkali road, Kawo road, Tudun Wada road;carrying placards with different inscriptions such as, “Bring Back Fuel Subsidy, Stop Banditry, amongst others. Business premises, shops, markets and filling stations were shut for fear of being vandalized by hoodlums.
In Sokoto, irate youths barricaded Government House and major streets in the metropolis, chanting different songs and holding placards with different anti government inscriptions .
The angry-looking youths marched across the major streets with slogans such as ”We want justice, equity and fairness” while others had placards that read: ”End bad governance”, ”We are hungry”, “Tinubu return subsidy”, “Tinubu must go”, “ Solve Sokoto security challenges” and “We stand on N65 per litre of PMS” among many others.
Some hoodlums vandalised shops along major streets of Ahmadu Bello Way, Dandiman junction among other.
However, the security operatives are currently patrolling the streets in various locations, while business activities and public offices were moving hitch-free.
