From Abel Leonard, Lafia
Nigerians have been called upon to support the present administration of APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deliver more dividends of democracy and good governance.
Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura made the call on Monday at his residence in Lafia, the state capital, while addressing individuals and groups during a meeting at his instance.
Senator Al-Makura, who was the former Governor of Nasarawa State, admitted that people have the right to protest. However, he opined that the proposed good governance protest would plunge the nation into a state of anarchy.
“I feel a need to appreciate the situation in which we are and give all the necessary support to bring about peace in this country. We are all elders, we are all parents, we are all leaders in our own rights, we know people to appeal to. Please, let’s give peace a chance,” he said.
Senator Al-Makura, who also appealed to both leaders and youths, emphasized the importance of unity and patience as both the state and federal governments are working hard to address Nigeria’s problems.
“I want to appeal to youths to please adopt constructive engagement with leaders at the national, state, and local government levels. This is important because engaging our elected and appointed representatives is key to solving the nation’s problems.”
“The president has just clocked only one year in office, and we are all aware that he inherited a battered economy and other numerous challenges, so he needs at least two years and more to fix these challenges,” he said.
Senator Al-Makura seized the opportunity to call on the people of Nasarawa State and Nigerians to support Governor Abdullahi Sule and President Tinubu in delivering good governance to the people.
