From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

Forty-nine Kano State indigenes recently deported from Ghana for illegal residency have been reunited with their families in the state.

The returnees were received by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Tracking in Persons NAPTIP in Lagos upon repatriation by the Ghanian authorities and returned to the state

Handing them over to their respective families, the State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf cautioned the people against illegal movement and residency outside the country

Represented by the State Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye, the Governor presented them with a token of one hundred thousand naira and four bags of food items to each of the families.

“The leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is very magnanimous, that is why he donated the cash and food items so enable you to start a new life.”

The State Commissioner for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Amina Sani advised the returnees to make good use of the donation to start a new life.

She disclosed that the returnees had been certified to be in good medical conditions before they were handed over to their families.

She also encouraged parents to be cautious of giving out their children in marriage to individuals outside the country.

“You should be careful when giving out your children in marriage to persons from abroad… not because you see somebody that is well dressed and you then rush your daughters to marry them out,” she stated.
