Fuel scarcity has resurfaced in Zamfara State, resulting in long queues at the NNPC mega station in Gusau, the state capital.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that on Friday, many vehicles were seen in queues for several hours, struggling to buy fuel.
One Ibrahim Ahmad, a commercial bus driver, told newsmen that he had been at the mega station for over three hours waiting to buy fuel, but all to no avail, pointing out that the queues were too long.
“I met some people here trying to buy fuel, but it has not reached their turn, let alone mine. If we continue with these long queues, how do we feed our families for God’s sake?
“If a commercial vehicle driver can waste several hours waiting to buy fuel, then how would he enjoy his business, especially now that the persisting economic hardship continues to bite harder?” he queried.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that at the mega station, a litre of fuel was being sold at N628.
Many black marketers were seen moving away from the station with jerricans filled with fuel, contrary to the ban on the purchase of fuel in jerricans by the state government.
Arogidigba Global Journal visited some filling stations in Gusau, the state capital, where it was discovered that many filling stations were closed, and only a few stations were operating but were selling at a higher cost.
Most of the people interviewed claimed that the petroleum marketers were hoarding the product for their own selfish interests while selling to only black marketers, but were claiming that they had no fuel.
A saleswoman, Grace, told Arogidigba Global Journal at one of the filling stations that they were asked to stop selling fuel to customers, saying that they didn’t know the main reason.
