After successful dispatch of freight train from Lagos to Kano recently, another freight train loaded with 18 containers of export goods arrived Ebute-Metta Junction from Kano on Tuesday enroute A.P Moller port terminal, Lagos.
According to a reliable source the freight train departed Dala Inland Dry port Kano after procedural examination by officials of Nigeria Customs Service.
It was gathered that the train departed Kano with stopovers at regular intervals whenever there was nightfall.
The decision to stop the train whenever it was getting dark was based on need to avert accidents and loss of goods in transit caused by tracks that might be vandalized by hoodlums.
The source further disclosed that it is safer for the trains to move in the day time when the rail tracks were visible for the locomotive engine driver to see the tracks properly than at night.
Railway District Manager, Lagos District, Augustine Arisa said the export goods train arrived Lagos from Kano on Tuesday last week.
