The Emir of Kagara, in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, Mallam Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II has called on the people of the Emirate to unite in order to have a unity of purpose.
The Emir made the call while addressing traditional, religious and political leaders in his palace on Sunday, July 21st, 2024 when they paid him homage and welcoming him back home from a state assignment as this year’s Amirul Hajj.
The Emir who played host to the occasion called on all stakeholders of the Emirate both within and outside to give their fullest support and maximum cooperation to see to the development of the Emirate, as according to him, no state or nation can develop when its citizens are in disarray.
The Emir explained that for the Emirate to achieve its aims and desires for peace and development, all hands must be on deck to work as a team.
While responding to remarks by the Member, House of Representatives, representing Rafi, Munya and Shiroro Constituency, Hon. Isma’ila Modibbo, Mallam Attahiru Gunna II called on all political leaders as well as public office holders and traditional leaders to support the member in his quest to bring development, achieve purposeful leadership and unity of purpose with the view to defeat the insecurity bedeviling the area, so that the Emirate can develop because without security, nothing tangible can be achieved in terms of development.
While appreciating the leadership drive of the political leaders in the area, the royal Father however cautioned all and sundry of the dangers of living carelessly without specific political leadership within the Emirate that can drive for others to follow steps.
Mallam Ahmed Attahiru II called on all stakeholders in the Emirate to participate actively and fully in charting a new course and political order that could result to the much needed development of the area, adding that all former commissioners, retired permanent secretaries and directors, former federal and state legislators, political gladiators, former council chairmen, among others should come forward, put their hands on deck as stakeholders to chart a new course for the Emirate to achieve a new dawn.
The Emir also received on a visit to the palace, the Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Alhaji Umar Sanda Rebe.
Earlier in his remarks, the commissioner told the emir that the ministry under his watch, was exploring all avenues including holding meetings with all security agencies including vigilante corps and ‘yan-sa-kai towards finding ways out of the dwindling security issues bedeviling some parts of the state, highligting that he has directed all Fulani leaders (Ardo) in Kagara Emirate to liaise with the district and village heads in their areas of abode to discuss ways out of the insecurity quagmire/ challenges.
The commissioner affirmed that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has directed that his ministry should cooperate with all relevant security agencies to tackle the herders/farmers clash as well as curb the rising insecurity in the state.
Umaru Rebe outlined some plans by his ministry to work hand-in-glove with the security, traditional leaders, political leaders, religious leaders, local government councils, courts among others on ways to wriggle out of insecurity in the state.
He added that the ministry is working towards capturing the data of all the Fulanis resident in the state, with the sole aim of knowing if at a time there are infiltration or infractions by foreign Fulbes.
The traditional homage that was the custom in every Sallah celebration did not take place in the last Eid-el-Kabir celebration because the Emir was away on a state assignment as the state’s Amirul-Hajj.
All the districts and village heads, traditional title holders, political leaders, religious leaders and the relevant stakeholders graced the occasion.
The Emir went into a closed door meeting with the Emirate’s stakeholders to discuss security and other matters affecting the Emirate after attending to all the Fulani leaders (Ardos) of the Emirate led by the Hon. Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Umar Sanda Rebe.
