The Indonesia Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Usra Hendra Harahap, has called for educational exchange to strengthen bilateral relations with Nigeria.

The Ambassador made the call at the 5th Speech and Prize Waleematul Tahfeezul Quran of 33 students at Misbahul ‘Ilm Schools(MIS) in Abuja.

Misbahul ‘Ilm Schools(MIS), which is an Indonesian embassy-supported school, is dedicated to the memorization of the Quran, providing a unique opportunity for students to deepen their understanding and connection with Islamic teachings.

He said the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Indonesia can be enhanced through Scholarships Offered to study in Nigeria and vice versa while focusing on agriculture and healthcare and also by establishing programs for students to spend semesters or years studying in each other’s countries, promoting cultural immersion and academic exchange.

He also stressed that engaging in regular dialogue to share best practices, challenges, and reforms in education policy and management will strengthen both countries’ bilateral ties.

According to him, “By implementing these initiatives, Nigeria and Indonesia can foster a robust education exchange, promoting mutual understanding, capacity building, and strong bilateral relations.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Event, Muhammad Murtala Ibrahim, said the MIS needs to actively promote other aspects of knowledge that set it up to equally promote.

He added that the school has demonstrated excellence in science and Technology but gaps still remain to be filled.

He said chemistry and physics and even computer laboratories are poorly equipped, adding that school fees alone cannot do the magic.

He, therefore, said the school have to explore alternative funding mechanisms as he proposed an endowment with the support of parents, and other well-meaning citizens to fund science, Information and Technology education in MIS.

“I will Insha Allah facilitate the set up of the endowment immediately. I invite all to support this initiative for development of our children.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the teachers and parents. Your unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement have been instrumental in our students’ achievements. You have nurtured them with love and instilled in them the importance of their faith.

“To our students, this graduation is not the end but the beginning of a lifelong journey with the Quran. Cherish this moment, and remember that you have been entrusted with a great responsibility. Continue to seek knowledge, strive for excellence, and uphold the values that the Quran teaches.

“To our Huffaz, today is proof to your hard work and commitment to the sacred words of Allah (SWT). You have embarked on a noble journey, immersing yourselves in the teachings of the Quran, and today we celebrate not just your memorization, but your understanding and embodiment of its principles.

“You have become not just role model for your peers but even to many of us that are much older. You remind us that if we had emulated the likes of you in the past, we q to our minds have the opportunity to do so insha Allah. I pray to Allah to grant us the privilege.

“The Quran is more than a book; it is a guide, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of light in our lives. As you move forward, I encourage you to continue reflecting on its teachings and incorporating its values into your daily actions.

“Let it shape your character, guide your decisions, and inspire you to contribute positively to your families, communities, and the world at large.

“Today, we celebrate 33 huffaz making a total of huffaz that MIS has produced biznillah. Allah has made MIS one of the most outstanding institutions in this regard.”

“I pray that Allah (SWT) blesses each of you with success, happiness, and a steadfast heart in His service. May He grant you the strength to live by the Quran and be a source of light and guidance for others.” He said.
