A vote of confidence has been passed on the Group Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, for his outstanding leadership in the oil and gas sector.
This was disclosed by the Spokespersons of Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria (COCSON) and the Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association in Nigeria (BAVCCA) Amina Salihu and Chidi Okereke, in a statement, yesterday.
Salifu praised Mallam Kyari’s exceptional leadership and strategic vision, which has led to remarkable milestones and a profound impact on the lives of Nigerians and nominated him for the CEO of the year award.
“Under his stewardship, the NNPCL has achieved significant success, including optimal securing of Federation entitlements, management of the Direct Sale of crude oil and Direct Purchase of petroleum products, and championing transparency and accountability.
“Under Mr. Kyari’s leadership, the NNPC has also achieved other numerous milestones, such as the public disclosure of its Audited Financial Statements, rallying shareholders to take the Final Investment Decision (FID) for Train 7 of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), and transforming the NNPC into a world-class organization,” Salihu said.
BAVCCA’s Okereke, in his address, highlighted Mallam Kyari’s role in driving digital transformation, environmental stewardship, and resolving decade-long Production Sharing Contract disputes.
“Mallam Kyari’s leadership has been instrumental in propelling the NNPCL to new heights of success and profitability.
“Mallam Kyari’s recognition through this award will not only honor his exceptional contributions but also inspire others to emulate his example of ethical, transparent, and visionary leadership.
“The nomination underscores the widespread acknowledgment and appreciation of Mallam Kyari’s transformative impact on the NNPCL and the Nigerian oil and gas industry,” he said.
