The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last Kogi governorship elections, Alhaji Murtala Ajaka, has called on members of his party to participate actively in the local government election scheduled to take place in October.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ajaka said the call for participation underscores the importance of grassroots involvement in shaping the future of our local communities.
The statement, signed by Isaiah Davies Ijele, Director of New Media, urged all aspiring candidates to step forward, engage with the electoral process, and demonstrate their commitment to serving the people of Kogi State.
“The opportunity to run for both counsellor and chairmanship positions is open to all eligible candidates who are eager to contribute to democratic processes at the local level and for the good and well-being of our people.
“Interested parties are encouraged to indicate their willingness to participate in this crucial election, which serves as a platform for community engagement and representation.
“For further inquiries or to express interest in candidature, please contact the SDP leadership in your various local governments and wards,” he said.
Ajaka called for a transparent and inclusive election that will reflect the will of the people and strengthen democratic values.
