The Labour Party, LP on Tuesday expressed sadness over the demise of a federal lawmaker elected under the platform of the party.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that Ekene Adams, a member of the House of Representatives representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, died on Tuesday morning.
Reacting, the national chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure in a statement issued by Obiora Ifoh, National Publicity Secretary of the party, described the deceased as a star lawmaker.
He said Adams, who prior to his death, served as the Chairman House Committee on Sports, was a notable voice in the green chamber.
Abure further stated that Adams also made invaluable contributions to the party by offering “great advice to me in party affairs”.
The statement reads, “In the floor of the National Assembly, he was a notable voice and had defended the voiceless through his motions.
“On behalf of the leadership and the entire members of the party who have been mourning this great personality we offer our condolences to his immediate family, the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, the Kaduna State government and the nation over this painful demise.
“We pray that God will give all of us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss; and that his soul will rest on the bosom of the Lord.”
