On Saturday morning, the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi was gutted by fire.
A statement by the Chief of Staff to the monarch, Munir Sanusi Bayero confirmed the tragedy.
The statement issued on Saturday evening explained, “On Saturday, 13th July 2024 morning, a fire incident occurred at the outer court of His Highness’s Palace, Kofar Kudu. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the damage was minimal.
The Chief of Staff added, “The palace Is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the palace and its occupants.
“We are also investigating the cause of the fire and taking steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.’’ the palace added.
The cause of the fire could not be established at press time as efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service were not successful.
So far, there has been no comment from the Nigerian Police regarding the incident.
