The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 21 September governorship election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged support for victims of the Jattu Market rainstorm in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, which claimed the lives of four people and injured many on Monday morning.
The rainstorm caused trees to fall on people seeking shelter under them, leading to four deaths and many injuries. The injured are reportedly receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
In a statement signed by his Legislative Aide on Media and Communication, Godswill Inegbe, Okpebholo expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved and the injured.
He called on the state government to fulfil its responsibilities by immediately assisting the victims receiving treatment in hospitals and the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The APC governorship candidate assured the people of Edo North Senatorial District and the families of the victims of his unwavering solidarity and goodwill during these trying times, noting that “this painful loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods remains a shared grief that further unites us together”.
He further assured the people of Edo North of his support in assisting the victims and their families in overcoming the tragedy.
