As part of efforts to boost hygiene and improve the learning environment, Chrisland Schools Limited has donated a newly built block of toilets and wash-hand basins to Ikota Primary School, a state-owned institution at Ajah in Lagos State.
The donation was part of Chrisland Schools’ social intervention efforts in education, which aligns with the state government’s ‘Save Our Schools’ initiative to enhance learning in the state.
This was contained in the May/June newsletter of the school made available to Nigerian Tribune on Monday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the donated toilet facilities, the Managing Director of Chrisland Schools, Mrs. Ibironke Adeyemi, announced the readiness of Chrisland Schools to renovate the existing dilapidated toilets in the school to a high standard.
She explained what led to the donation of the newly built toilets, saying, “When we came here some time ago to give some talks and palliatives, we asked the school what they needed, and they told us they needed toilets; that is what we have built and are handing over for use.
“We have also seen that the existing toilet is old and dilapidated. We assure the school that we will renovate it to a high standard, and after that, we will be taking on the projects one after the other.
We will continue to partner in whatever way we can and do great things to ensure that the children are given the best.
“We believe that every child deserves a good and quality education, and therefore, we will continue to partner with Ikota Primary School.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of Chrisland Schools’ Advisory Board, Mr. Ike Ofuokwu, acknowledged the huge responsibilities before the state government, hence the determination of Chrisland Schools to support the efforts in any way possible.
On her part, the chairman and founder of Chrisland Schools Limited, High Chief Winifred Awosika, commended the board of trustees and the management of the school for making the toilet project a reality.

In another development, learners at Chrisland Schools have been encouraged to be proud of their culture and be ready to defend their heritage at any time.
A multiple-award winning visual artist, Mr. Clement Adesanya, who was a guest speaker at the Language and Arts Day organised by Chrisland High School Ikeja, stressed the need to reawaken the cultural consciousness of young people.
Adesanya, who is the Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Sculpture) at the Lagos State University Centre for Museums and African Heritage (LASUCEMAH), described culture as “who we are, what gives us our identity, and the tapestry of our identity.” He encouraged the learners to speak their indigenous languages and embrace their traditional meals.
