Gunmen killed three vigilantes and a passerby at Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, on Sunday evening.
Spokesman of the state police command, Henry Okoye, who made the disclosure in a statement he released to newsmen, said the state Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has already deployed a tactical team of the command to arrest all those behind the gruesome murder of the vigilantes.
A viral video, which surfaced online earlier, showcased the vigilantes were probably shot from close range in a vehicle they were patrolling with.
The passerby was said to have been hit by a stray bullet from the gunmen.
Meanwhile, the CP has commiserated with the families of the deceased and urged members of the community who may have useful information on the suspects to feel free to report to the police.
