The Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has declared Monday, July 8, 2024, as a work-free day to commemorate the new Islamic year.
Radda said the work-free day was to enable all workers in the state to join other Muslims in the celebration of the new year (1446 after the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad SAW from Makkah to Medina).
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, the governor congratulated the entire Muslims in the state and the world over on the new year which began on Sunday, the first day of Al-Muharram, 1446.
Radda urged Muslims to strictly adhere to the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) in their daily activities.
He seized the opportunity to call on the clerics to continue to pray for peaceful coexistence amongst the various communities in the state and fervently pray for Allah to bring succor to the current security challenges and hardships being faced in the country.
