The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has named Nigeria’s track queen and 100m women’s hurdles world record holder Tobi Amusan, women’s long jumper Ese Brume, Favour Ashe and 44 other stars in the list of athletes that will fly the country’s green-white-green colours at next month’s Olympic Games in Paris.
Amusan, who was recently cleared to run in the Paris Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sports dismissed appeals against the decision to clear her of a doping offence by the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal, will be hoping for a better performance in her third Olympics.
Recall the Nigerian medal hopeful didn’t make it beyond the heats on her debut appearance in Rio 2016 and finished fourth at the last edition in Tokyo, marginally missing out on the podium.
Team Nigeria will compete in 9 events respectively in both the men’s and women’s categories, and men’s the Mixed 4x400m, as the 2024 Olympic Games will start from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11.
