The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State has described as null and void, the purported suspension of a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, from the party.
The Chairman of the PDP in the local government, Mr. Oduwa Igbinosun, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday after an emergency executives meeting of the party in Benin City.
Igbinosun stated that the local government executives’ attention was drawn to the purported expulsion of Ogbeide-Ihama by a faceless group led by one Lawrence Aguebor, which according to him prompted the executive to set the record straight.
He explained that the said Lawrence as an ex-official of the ward, lacked the authority to suspend or expel anyone.
Igbinosun added that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had extended the tenure of all elected executives and made rectifications for them to act as caretaker committee.
This was just as the executives of the PDD Ward 2, in Oredo Local Government Area also disowned the purported suspension and expulsion of the two-term House of Representatives member.
The Secretary of the Ward, Mr. Jesuobo Obadigie, who stated this on behalf of the executives said no such was carried out in the Ward.
“Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-ihama remains not just a member, but a prominent and formidable leader of the party, and continues to enjoy the total support of the members in Ward 2.
“It is expected that anyone who loves the party should at this point be focused on actions that will unite the party ahead of the September governorship elections.
“This is to warn mischief makers and impostors to desist from their criminal and divisive actions that could cause potential harm,” Igbinosun warned.
Also, the chairman of PDP in the ward, Prince Elemah, said he did not sign any document against the former federal legislator, adding, “Ogbeide-Ihama remains our leader and a bonafide member.”
